Stampotique Designers Challenge #158 Black & White with a pop of colour

Time for a new challenge this week over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog.

And this week, it's the turn of our very lovely Kay to be our hostess, here is what she has to say...

Kay here and it is my turn to host the Stampotique Designers' Challenge this week!  What might seem like a simple challenge to most, for some, whose work is generally full of color, it really will be a challenge.  But, for all of us, it's good to try something different. I have been on a black'n'white artistic kick lately because I love the crisp freshness it can bring to a card, journal page or ATC. Whatever you decide to do, keep it black and white with just a pop of

Great challenge Kay! Here is my card...

Stamps used: Femme Collage & Small Butterfly

I just love this collage stamp from Stampotique Originals online shop. It is sooooo versatile.

I stamped Jo's butterfly onto an off-cut of used deli paper. I love how the colours pop!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.

I hope you can join in the fun. The Design Team have lots of creations to inspire you and full challenge details HERE

Good Luck for the monthly draw!

Stampotique Designers Challenge #157 Christmas in July

I am delighted to be your hostess for this weeks challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge. Boy! did I pick a challenge for you .... (On probably the hottest week of the year in the UK)... Ooops !!!!

It's never too early to start thinking about Christmas right?!! ;-) I thought it would be nice for us to spread a wave of festive cheer throughout Blogland!

Every year I set out with good intentions and imagine a great big stack of handmade Christmas cards all ready to send out nice and early in December, in reality I think it's happened once! So, lets do it together! Dig deep and crack open the Christmas stash box early!!

This is a fun challenge, I hope you enjoy it too!

Stamps used: Snowy Fran, Believe & Snowflakes

I've created a simple card that is easy to make in batches. I swiped Gelatos across the background then added some stamped snowflakes. Fran was stamped onto plain white cardstock before being added to the card.

'Believe' was stamped directly onto the background using Archival ink. I then set about grunging the numbers which are from a sticker sheet by Jenni Bowlin called Red Skinny Alphas available from A sprinkle of imagination.

I finished the card by adding a doodled border. I can see myself making some more of these cards in plenty of time for Christmas!

I hope you can join us. The Design Team have lots of creative inspiration to get your festive mojo ringing! Happy creating! Gez xx

Stampotique Designers Challenge #156 Book Inspiration

Exciting times!! It's time for a brand new challenge this week over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog and it's a good one. Well, they all are right!!

This week the very lovely France has got a great challenge for you, here is what she has to say...

Hi! My name is France and I'm a bookworm. No doubt there are a lot of other bookworms among our lovely Stampotiquers.
I would like to know about your favourite books. So my challenge for you, should you accept it, is to create a piece, inspired by your favourite book. Let the story, the title, the cover, a quote inspire you! Now you might have a problem choosing your all time favourite book, don't worry, it's not like you are writing it in stone, just pick one. Or maybe your problem is that you don't like reading at all. Here is how to cheat: go for your favourite film based on a book, we won't tell ;)))

A girl after my own heart.... I LOVE to read too... I can't go to sleep without first dipping into a good book!

My daughter recently finished the The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and thought I might like it too... She wasn't wrong.... it was the sort of book that I didn't want to end... I wanted to continue reading about the lives of the characters and of course, visit The Night Circus!

..."The Circus arrives without warning, no announcements precede it. It is simply there when yesterday it was not..."

So sad to finish the book I thought a little key chain would make a nice reminder!

I used France's very own Carousel stamp, it's a favourite of mine :D I stamped the stamp onto shrink plastic, shut my eyes and did the deed!!!!! Remembering to punch a hole at the top for the key chain!

I then sprayed a sheet of card stock with Dylusion spray inks and added some words.

Thank you for calling. I hope you can join in the fun and I look forward to perhaps picking up a few new book titles to add to my ever growing wish list! Usual rules for this weeks challenge apply, see HERE!

 Happy creating, Gez

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #154 Vaction

It's time for a brand NEW challenge from the Stampotique Designers challenge blog!

And what a fitting challenge for me! Not that I have any holiday plans right now but my daughter is away overseas and I'm converting the time and the weather daily to her little brother!!!

I am hoping my daughter has found the sweetest, most mysterious looking place anyone could imagine... she's on a trip of a lifetime - again!

Here is what our wonderful hostess Kathi Rerek has to say this week... It's the summer here, which means it's the perfect time for a break from your everyday activities, like school or work! My challenge this week is Vacation and/or Travel!

There's a lot of latitude (pun intended) with this challenge! I can't wait to see what you all create!

Here is my card..

Stamps used: Jasmin, Small butterfly, Spidergrass and Dandelion Duo

The background was made using different colours of spray inks. I stamped the flowers and butterflies directly onto the card using a black permanent ink. Jasmin was stamped onto plain white cardstock and coloured using watercolour paints.

Thank you for calling.

I hope you like my card and can join in the fun this month over at the Challenge blog usual rules apply.

 Good luck for the draw!

Creative Blog Hop

I am delighted to have been tagged in this Blog Hop by the very lovely and talented Kaz over at Slightly Wonky Crafts. Today, it's my turn to tag people and join the hop!

The idea of the hop is to pass on the joy of creativity and share who we are inspired by.

Here are the answers to the questions I was asked...

1. What am I working on?

Getting my craft space organised. We moved house at the start of the year and I still don't feel organised! I miss my crafty dresser sooooooo much!

It's starting to come together.... s l o w l y...

Slowly getting there.... I haven't given up hope of my crafty dresser joining me in the next couple of months...

I am also working on Design Team commitments and in my spare time I am trying to improve my sketching, drawing and painting skills to make mixed media canvas paintings and journal pages... I am really enjoying a photo challenge and haven't missed a day this year, the plan is to print out the photos Project Life style.

Here is one of my pages...

 Inspired by Jaine Drake...

This is my desk from last week, everything is packed away at the moment as my daughter is due to fly to America on Wednesday this week so she is top priority!

I love having a large table to work on... Haha! can't help but notice I'm squashed at one end... I was concentrating! ;-))

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I'm not sure if it does myself, I don't like to blow my own trumpet so I'm probably not the best person to ask about me! I love to upcycle and think of as many ways as possible of using products that I buy.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

To keep sane!!

I first got into scrapbooking as a way of preserving memories when my children were born, always eager to learn new skills I branched out into making art for swaps and entering challenges, I used my love of creating and getting lost in Blogland each night as a way of hiding from real life issues.. art journaling and journal spilling help me to this day. I am in a much better place now and things can only get better !!!

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

Because I do many different projects each process is different, if I am working to a deadline I normally pick out colours that I am attracted to at the time depending on my mood, whether it's paper or paint.. then I decide on a suitable stamp that fits the challenge. I like to try and incorporate some creative mess, distress and stitching into my finished project!

If I need to journal spill.. anything that is happening in the real word and I'm having issues I go straight to a journal and write with abandonment... for as long as it takes, writing in lots of different directions, these pages can then be painted over when the time is right and later used as backgrounds..

Someone once said art heals and I truly believe it can help bring peace and calm into a life of chaos.

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little more about me today, please visit my 3 inspirations and be sure to bookmark them so that you can find out more about them this time next week!!!

I am delighted to tag 3 lovely ladies that really inspire me in so many different ways...

First up is Jaine Drake... Jaine is an AMAZING inspiration to me.. there is always some new and totally original to see on Jaine's blog and if you are stuck with anything then Jaine is the lady to ask :-)

Here is a little about Jaine...

I live in the heart of Europe in a tiny country called Luxembourg (most people pass through it on the way to somewhere else). I'm happiest when covered with glue and paint and lucky enough to have some amazing countryside as my inspiration. I've three daughters and a patient husband who all have to put up with my crafty obsessions and general neglect of household chores and parenting.  The other loves in my life are mini albums, art journals and more recently Project Life scrapping.

You can visit Jaine Drake here at Confessions of a craftaholic

    ~♥~

Next to be tagged is Trish Latimer... what Trish can't do with paint isn't worth knowing! Trish's blog is a real feast of treats... I could live there!

Here is a little more about Trish...

mixed media designer with a passion for all things painty, colourful and quirky! Definitely a case of 'the odder the better' I also love creating jewellery and have a very large collection of handmade beads.

You can visit Trish Latimer here at Ink, Paint, Beads

 ~♥~

I am delighted Hazel allowed me to tag her, Hazel is one of the first people I used to visit in Blogland, many, many moons ago! Visiting Hazel each night was a real life saver !

Here is a little about Hazel..

I'm Hazel, known in the crafting world as Craftyhazelnut. I live in Bromley, part of Greater London in the UK. I'm 66 and am married to John, who fully supports me in my obsession for accumulating (and using) crafting goodies. I've always been interested in crafting in one form or another; when I was younger I did a lot of knitting, embroidery, crocheting etc but over the past thirteen years or so have been more involved in papercrafting, particularly cardmaking, although I dabble in scrapbooking from time to time. I have my own personal crafting blog My Crafty Outlook and also run two Christmas challenge blogs and am privileged to be part of a few design teams.
                                                               ~♥~

What more can I say! These ladies will spoil you with their creative inspiration. A very special BIG thank you to them all for playing along and to you for visiting.

                                                           Happy creating, Gez

Stampotique Designers Challenge #150 Celebrate!

It's a rather EXCITING challenge this week over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge... it's no ordinary challenge, it's our 150th !!!!

I am proud to have been showcasing my artwork for Stampotique Originals since I joined them way back on challenge No. 24 (Really?!!!)

Here is what our FANTASTIC Design Team Coordinator Kim Howard has to say...

Today we have a super fun challenge for you.

We are excited at Stampotique that our fans have helped us grow so much and that our stamps, challenges and Facebook page have become such a big hit.  In honor of our excitement, and our 150th challenge, our theme is CELEBRATION.  We want you to create with celebration in mind, whether it's celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation or new baby...let's celebrate!

Not to put a damper on our celebration, but our team is bidding a few of our members farewell. Maria has been with the team and has shown us how talented she is not only as an artist but as a stamp designer.  Tanja has only been with us a short while but we have enjoyed seeing her creations each week.  We celebrate the opportunity we had to have them on our design team and wish them the best.

We will NOT be having a new call for designers as our current designers will all be remaining for another term.  We are happy to say we are looking for 4 new guest designers and so along with this fun challenge, we will pick some of our guest designers from those who are participating in our 150th challenge. Along with the chance to be a guest designer, we'll also be picking a random winner for a $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps.

Can't wait to see how you celebrate this week!

Sad to see Maria & Tanja leave us I am sure you will join me in wishing them both lots of luck in the future...

Here is my card for challenge 150 !!

Let's have a party!

The usual rules apply, please see the challenge blog for FULL DETAILS and your chance to win a $30 gift certificate to spend instore!

Daring Cardmakers ~ Stars

It's time for a brand NEW dare over at the Daring Cardmakers challenge blog. The new dare set by Zuzana is...
  'Wish Upon A Star'

Do you like watching the stars in summer? I believe everyone does! My favourite are meteor showers. You don't need any special equipment. Spread a blanket on the ground and look up into the dark night sky.

Now, I would like to see stars on your cards. Create a project with a universe or astronomy theme, fairy-tales, sports, birthday stars, music rock stars, stars on the flag ... whatever you fancy!

 FANTASTIC dare Zuz!

Here is my card...

Don't you just love it when an idea comes together perfectly! I had great fun with this dare... I think my crafty muse has finally come back out of hiding... we both had fun with this...

A simple card made all the more special with the beautiful sentimental stamp from Stampotique Originals called To be a star... perfect for this dare! I accented the card by including the gorgeous stars from the Design Cube by France Papillon.

I then matted and layered the sentiment quote and included some metal cardstock and gems from A sprinkle of imagination.

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.

Have a great weekend whatever the weather!!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #142 Use a pen/paint pen/marker

Time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge and the lovely Magda is our hostess this week and here is what she has to say...

I always have a pen or pencil with me. Always with notebook full of drawings and doodles. I'm sure not only me! I would love to see a pen in your project. It can be a drawing, doodles or simply some journaling. It might be even a single word. I'm looking forward to see your entries for this challenge!
Great challenge! Magda!
My pens and pencils are my favourite tools by far! I've created a little Easter tag and had great fun doodling...

The way Easter is coming we WILL be still wearing hats and scarves like Weasel !!

The background was made using Distress Inks and water. Weasel was stamped onto white cardstock, embossed and coloured with Copic pens then added to the tag. I did the same with Daniel's Hare but stuck him onto 3D foam pads before adding him to the tag.

Floral Flutter and the Crow Line were both stamped directly onto the tag using Archival ink. I doodled around the border and flowers with a couple of my favoruite pens Uniball pens from France Papillon's gorgeous Etsy shop :))

Thank you for calling. Happy Easter to you All!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #140 Vintage

It's time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog and this week our lovely hostess France has got a gorgeous challenge for you!

Here is what France has to say..

‘Hello lovely Stampotiquers,
Lots of us get so excited when we get our hands on an old ledger, old books, or old family photos even from people we don’t know. But those are often hard to come by, or very expensive.
Because of that, lots of us became very agile in making new things look old. Using inks, paper distressing tools and yummy techniques.
How about we combine all that love for all things vintage and all those yummy techniques with our favorite stamps, to create a vintage looking Stampotique piece?
Can’t wait to see where that leads you! Ready? Create!’

I love, love, love anything olde worlde so this challenge was  r i g h t  up my street!

I covered a gorgeous little frame with some fabulous papers from one of France Papillon's 'awesome' kits ...  after, I finally stopped stroking everything !!

I had planned to cover the paper with beeswax but I don't officially get my little iron until Mothering Sunday !!

I stamped Olive Rose one of my 'all time' favourite Stampotique stamps onto a crinkled Glassine envelope from A sprinkle of imagination using archival ink.

The french text paper was aged using Distress Inks and gold acrylic paint, the paper rose was recycled from an earlier project and I found a piece of vintage lace to add to the frame.

The words 'shine brightest' come from the stamp To be a star... I hope you like my little vintage frame as much as I do!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance, I hope you can join in the challenge too. The Design Team have lots of inspiration to share with you over at the Challenge blog.

  Happy creating, Gez
