Stampotique Designers Challenge ~ #144 Postcard

There's a lovely new challenge today over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog and the winners of the blog hop revealed!

This week our hostess is Sue here is what she has to say, Good morning everyone, it's Sue here and I'm delighted to be hosting this weeks challenge. I'm sure that every crafter has had that block where their mojo has packed it's bags and gone on holiday. I know I've sat and looked at a sheet of card and had no ideas at all. One way I've got to get over this is just to decide what size or shape I want to make. So I pick a card or a tag, or in this case a postcard. Postcards are great fun and it's amazing how much you can get on a 6x4 (inches) area. So this week I would like you to make a postcard. Have Fun!

I really loved this challenge, thanks Sue! It's a great size to work with I can see me making lots more postcards!

Stamps used: Happy, Happy, Happy, DogHappy Head Appliances Cube, Barcode Text, Barcode  also, French Journal Page & Raindrops (in the background)

There are lots of different layers on this postcard, it's nice that you can see allsorts peeking through including one of France's new stamps French Journal Page and also Raindrops by Magda Polakow

Thank you for calling and leave a comment if you get the chance. The Design Team have lots of inspiration to share with you over at the challenge BLOG. Hope you can join in the fun!   Happy creating, Gez

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #142 Use a pen/paint pen/marker

Time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge and the lovely Magda is our hostess this week and here is what she has to say...

I always have a pen or pencil with me. Always with notebook full of drawings and doodles. I'm sure not only me! I would love to see a pen in your project. It can be a drawing, doodles or simply some journaling. It might be even a single word. I'm looking forward to see your entries for this challenge!
Great challenge! Magda!
My pens and pencils are my favourite tools by far! I've created a little Easter tag and had great fun doodling...

The way Easter is coming we WILL be still wearing hats and scarves like Weasel !!

The background was made using Distress Inks and water. Weasel was stamped onto white cardstock, embossed and coloured with Copic pens then added to the tag. I did the same with Daniel's Hare but stuck him onto 3D foam pads before adding him to the tag.

Floral Flutter and the Crow Line were both stamped directly onto the tag using Archival ink. I doodled around the border and flowers with a couple of my favoruite pens Uniball pens from France Papillon's gorgeous Etsy shop :))

Thank you for calling. Happy Easter to you All!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #140 Vintage

It's time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog and this week our lovely hostess France has got a gorgeous challenge for you!

Here is what France has to say..

‘Hello lovely Stampotiquers,
Lots of us get so excited when we get our hands on an old ledger, old books, or old family photos even from people we don’t know. But those are often hard to come by, or very expensive.
Because of that, lots of us became very agile in making new things look old. Using inks, paper distressing tools and yummy techniques.
How about we combine all that love for all things vintage and all those yummy techniques with our favorite stamps, to create a vintage looking Stampotique piece?
Can’t wait to see where that leads you! Ready? Create!’

I love, love, love anything olde worlde so this challenge was  r i g h t  up my street!

I covered a gorgeous little frame with some fabulous papers from one of France Papillon's 'awesome' kits ...  after, I finally stopped stroking everything !!

I had planned to cover the paper with beeswax but I don't officially get my little iron until Mothering Sunday !!

I stamped Olive Rose one of my 'all time' favourite Stampotique stamps onto a crinkled Glassine envelope from A sprinkle of imagination using archival ink.

The french text paper was aged using Distress Inks and gold acrylic paint, the paper rose was recycled from an earlier project and I found a piece of vintage lace to add to the frame.

The words 'shine brightest' come from the stamp To be a star... I hope you like my little vintage frame as much as I do!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance, I hope you can join in the challenge too. The Design Team have lots of inspiration to share with you over at the Challenge blog.

  Happy creating, Gez

Daring Cardmakers ~ Die-licious

Hi everyone, it's Friday again and time for a brand NEW dare from the Daring Cardmakers!

This week we are very lucky indeed to have been sponsored by Docrafts

The designers were sent a mixture of Xcut dies to create with along with some of the new Gorjuss papers.

The Xcut dies are thin and perfect for use on so many different projects, there is a huge variety of dies in all shapes and sizes and fit in most die cutting machines but of course they work like a dream in the new Xpress die-cutting machine.

So this weeks dare is to include die-cuts on your creations. Full details available HERE. I have a couple of cards and projects to share with you today..

Oh, I just LOVE this alphabet!!

I cut the letters using the die with some of the brand new Gorjuss papers, which are 12x12 scrap papers and not thin at all..

My gorgeous little man celebrating is called Twinkie from Stampotique Originals.

I am entering my card into this weeks challenge over at the Stampotique Designer's challenge blog which is to create a card using a masculine theme.

~♥~

For my next card I have used one of the Gorjuss die-cuts from a 12x12 sheet, these are really cute girls without a doubt!

Lots of stitching and shabbyness going on here..!!

As well as making two cards. This die really got me thinking how I could use it away from card making and I really had a great time getting painty and messy.... I was in my element !!

I've used some of the left over alpha's to help create a background on a journal page, which isn't completed so it gives you an idea of how the alpha's can be used on a journal page or even a canvas...

The letters were applied using matte gel medium first as a glue and then as a sealer, it's then possible to paint over them if you like so they blend more into the background or you can build on the page as it is..

I used my journal again for the next example, but I am sure this idea could be used for cardmaking too!

As I used a sheet of 12x12 scrap paper which had a cardstock quality about it.. I was able to use the piece that was left from the die cutting as a stencil and spray inks through it... oh-la-la !!!!

I am quite sure I am too messy to be on the DCM Team at times !!!!

                                                                 Hehe !!

Hope you can join in the fun ! There is a fabulous prize on offer this week!

Wishing you a super weekend.

Happy creating, Gez

Some bunny loves you!

Hi and welcome to another woolly post. I'm just wanting to let you know I've decided to create a new blog for all things woolly and put a link in my pages bar above although, I'm not sure that it's the right place but I can sort that later.. Google+ is linked to here, which makes it complicated if I start leaving comments on crochet blogs!! It may leave some people scratching their heads!

I need to keep busy in March and finally after losing the pattern for many months finished my blooming flower cushion, at a loose end I decided to have a wander around blogland and have joined a brand new challenge over at Ravelry. It's a weekly challenge and so rather than clog up my paper crafts blog I thought I would start a brand new blog! Little Wren Cottage

My little bunny is part of an art abandonment project that I'm working on at the moment for Easter, more on him later!

I hope you can stop by Little Wren Cottage and let me know what you think!

  Happy hooking!!!! Gez xx

I am challenging you to use GREEN as the main color in your project.  I can’t wait to see what you create. Have fun and have a great week!

Daring Cardmakers ~ March Colour Challenge

March already?? What is happening!!

Today see's a brand new dare over at the Daring Cardmakers challenge blog and as it's the first Friday of the month that means a colour challenge.. the colours as chosen by Zuzana are just delicious ♥

Here is my card for this weeks dare..

 Scrummy colours or what!??

For this card first of all I stamped Art is the energy.. from Stampotique Originals onto a piece of painty scrap paper (never throw your scraps away!!) I then cut the paper out and machine stitched around the edges.

The sentiment was then matted and layered onto scrap papers from Crafty Templates. I stamped the Mesh stamp onto the turquoise paper using orange Stazon called Pumpkin from the Craft Range. More stitching was added and a final inking around the edges of the last paper.

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. The Design Team have lots of inspiration to share with you. I hope you can join us and play along.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ 136 Monochromatic

It's time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge. This weeks theme as chosen by Tanja is all about monochromatic...

Here is what Tanja says.. Hello crafty fellows, today it's my turn. I selected the theme monocromatic. Well, in fact it's a big challenge to myself.  I actually prefer it a little more colorful. But restrict myself to work tone in tone? First let's see the projects from the amazing Stampotiue Design Team. And now... Come on up! I'm longing to see all your stunning monochromatic artworks.

Oooh, a tough challenge for me this week ;-) Having to sit on my hands to stop myself reaching for the paints !!! hehe.. here is my card..

Stamps used: Eiffel Tower, Paris Postcard and Mesh

This was actually a fun challenge! I decided not to go for the classic shades of black and grey.. although, getting a decent photo this time of the year is pretty impossible !!

I cut my card to postcard size and stamped the mesh stamp onto the card using Distress Ink.. stamping onto scrap paper first to use the second impression.. the Eiffel tower and Paris postcard stamps were also stamped directly onto the card.. the sentiment is computer generated..

The Design Team have some stunning inspiration to share with you again this week. I hope you can join us.. Good luck for the draw.. normal rules apply, see the Challenge blog for details.

Have a great Wednesday, it's pouring down here in Lancashire, England this morning, what's fresh! Gez xx

Something completely different ~ Scrapghan Lapghan!

There's a first time for everything! Today, I am sharing a crochet project on my blog.. I just had too!

Thanking all of my lovely Instagram friends who take the time to leave me supportive comments and likes.. I use Instagram to share my #wip's and "ufo's.. whether it be painty or woolly!!! I also, enjoy taking part in a popular photo challenge on IG. I LOVE Instagram!!!

A week ago, early one Saturday morning I don't know how or even why.. it's not like I needed a new project!!!! but long story short I found myself on a gorgeous blog looking at a tutorial pattern and knew straight away it was something I wanted to try!

I grabbed my bag of woolly scraps and started straight away!  ............... One week later and I have made a gorgeous little blanket for my little boy!

It's not my first blanket... I normally make blankets to fit at least three of us so you can imagine they can get quite heavy especially, when you are only 6 er 7 now!!!! And trying to snuggle into them alone !!! So this one is little person size!!!

I think with being a Gemini I get bored quite quickly with granny squares. I love trying different patterns and even the odd hexagonal... oh how I just knew I would fall behind with the 2014 crochet challenge... I should have stuck to squares!!! I think that was one of the reasons I was browsing the internet last Saturday morning!!! I found a granny square with a difference.... it's a GIANT granny square... and... and... much to my little boys surprise... it's a square with a circle in the middle..... it was met with a Wooow!!! Off my little boy... I know I have a few more precious years left with him before he gets too big for Mummy's interests so I am really enjoying his company... as always :-))

I so wanted to write this blog post and link to Kate's blog Signed With an Owl where I found her gorgeous Squaring the Big Circle Tutorial. Kate has very kindly allowed me to link back to her post. I hope you like her blog and creations as much as I do... I am now in the process of making a Minecraft blanket.. hehe..

Here are some photos of my finished blanket. The size including the border is approx. 28" x 28" The border is taken from the Granny stripe blanket over at Attic24. Another of my favourite blogs!

Here is my finished blanket. Please remember it is made entirely from scraps.. had I thought about a colour scheme it would have taken me a lot longer than a week to make it.... I would probably still be deciding on colours !!!!

   ..... the border....

I had sooooo much fun with this pattern.... Thank you again Kate so much, I know it is a pattern I will use again and again and again! xxxxxx

 Happy hooking! Gez xx

Daring Cardmakers ~ Old but not forgotten...

What a FABULOUS brand new dare from the Daring Cardmakers.. Sharon would like to see a card using one of the first things you remember buying when you started crafting.

I didn't have to look to far to find some of my old supplies as everything seems to be in a right muddle at the moment in the new house in my little hobbit hole !!!

Another fab dare! Here's my card..

.... does she have wings?? I think she is wishing that she does!

For my card I have used one of the first girlie stamps that I fell in love with.. she is from Sugar Nellie as far as I can remember... I also dug deep and used some of my most favourite papers from the Figgy range from Basic Grey another forever product !!

Thank you for calling, I hope you get the chance to see the rest of the inspiration from the design team.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend, it's Friday and we have sunshine this morning! Lots of blue tits in the garden and our first stopping in day of half term, enjoy your day. Gez xxx

Stampotique Designer's Challenge #135 Acetate

It's time for a brand NEW challenge today over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog and it is looking gorgeous after it's makeover along with the Stampotique Originals store.. you are in for a real treat when you stop by..

Today's new challenge is set by the very lovely Corrie and here is what she has to say.. Hello and happy Wednesday to you. Now, if you are anything like me, you will keep all wrapping paper, cardboard and of course acetate (clear plastic). We all get lots of it : packaging. I particularly like acetate to use in my projects, whether it is to stamp on or use it in any other way. I just love it. So this week I would like YOU to use a bit of acetate. Let your imagination run wild and surprise me !!!

Great challenge Corrie!

I've given the gorgeous Karin wings so that she can fly !!!

This was a bright fun tag to make! Nothing like warm orange and a pop of neon to brighten up the winter nights!!!!! I was quite surprised to see it in the daylight!!!

The background was made using orange acrylic paints and bubble wrap. Archival ink was used to stamp the bees and the word 'fly' onto the background. Karin was stamped onto cream cardstock, cut out and added to the tag. A blob of doodling and stitching and the odd piece of washi tape and that was the tag completed. I really like it!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. I hope you can join in the fun! Pop on over to the challenge blog to see lots of inspiration.

A sprinkle of....... good byes..

I've had an absolutely FANTASTIC time on the Design Team working for A sprinkle of imagination but the time has come for me to step down... life is very busy at the moment since the house move and now I have complications with my health since major surgery three months ago... I can't do what I want to do for my commitment.. the ideas are there in my head... I just can't get them out there which is very frustrating..

I will miss everyone on the Team so much! I need to concentrate on what the latest scan results reveal and pick myself up yet again.. I am very sad also to be leaving Roc's Design Team.. they have patiently kept my place for me while I battle the odds to get some order into my life..

I need some time out...

I will and I am still going to be around.. I STILL have other DT commitments, long standing ones that I don't want to loose... I am hoping they will help me stay focused in the months ahead.. and there are so many EXCITING crafty challenges I have planned in my head too so I am hoping to give them some breathing space too... so who knows what might happen !!

Thank you for everyone's love and support.. Happy creating, Gez xoxox

Stampotique Designer's Challenge #135 Perfect Pairs

It's time for a brand new challenge today over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog and today sees Kathi Rehrek as our hostess this week. Here is what she has to say..

It's almost Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day makes me think of couples, so my challenge is called Perfect Pairs.

Use two (2) of an item so that things are in pairs. This can be two stamped images, two embellishments, two layers of patterned paper, two colors, etc.

See how many pairs you can use in your project. Just be sure to use at least one perfect pair and have fun!

Here is my journal page for this weeks challenge..

Stamps used: FLying Bird, Peace on your wings and Stars (from the Design Cube)

I created the background using Dyslusion spray inks and a piece of sequin waste. I then stamped Roc's birds onto tissue paper, reversing one of the images before gluing to my page. They were both coloured using watercolour pencils.

The sentiment 'Peace on your wings' was stamped onto cream paper and glued onto the page.. doodles were added using a black pen and stars stamped into acrylic paint and grey ink.

I just love this page!

Thank you for calling. Please pop on over to the challenge blog to see lots more inspiration from the Design Team and join in the fun if you get the chance! See the blog for full rules and details of how to play along and you will be entered into the random draw at the end of the month where two lucky players will each win for themselves a $30 gift certificate... what are you waiting for!! Also, this week we have two guest designers to delight you with their gorgeous artwork.

  Happy creating, Gez

Daring Cardmakers ~ Colour challenge

I'm not sure where my time is disappearing to at the moment................. goodness! I think part of it stems down to finding new routines in the new house... simple things like the computer being in a different place, NO crafty dresser, trouble finding my craft supplies and no where to craft when I do... we don't live near town anymore and while this is GREAT! Doing everything on foot takes so much more time... especially in pain everyday!! The days just seem to be flying by............ life eh!

Last Friday saw the February colour challenge over at the Daring Cardmakers and these are the lovely colours as picked by Lythan.. this girl ROCKS!

I'm hoping I've captured the colours, including the scrolly writing...

I decided to keep my card simple if a little messy! With a dry brush I swooshed across the background without thinking about it too much. Then added some pearly blue paint using the gorgeous Glitz roller chevron stamp from A sprinkle of imagination.

The gorgeous house stamp is one of France's from Stampotique Originals called Home Sweet Home along with Crow Line by Janet Klein.

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. Hope you can join us!

  Happy creating, Gez

Love your heart..

Anyone got a watch to stop time please???

I haven't a clue where January disappeared to.. and February seems to be heading the same way!!!

Unpacking from the house move, morphine, birthdays, feeling totally all at sea... is having a big impact on my life and crafty time.. I've given up on my mood blanket and even had to buy a pack of blank cards the other day as so much of my stuff still hasn't surfaced !!! I miss my craft dresser sooooo much.. I think I need a campaign to get it shipped from the old house !!

Last Friday was the first time this year I had time to make anything for the Daring Cardmakers it was as to be expected a last minute affair, grateful to have had one play day last month in which I had a go at making fabby awesome backgrounds following along with one of Magda's YouTube videos, that lady is seriously talented. xxx

I am linking my card also, to the latest challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog this week, our new hostess Jackie has got a fabulous new challenge to share with you this week called Heart in your Art.

I hope you like my card..

I am seriously in love with this stamp from Stampotique Originals called Love Your Heart. Such a dream to work with and I can see it becoming a firm favourite straight away.

I stamped the heart onto inky scrap paper and layered it over a background using Dylusion inks and mirror card from A sprinkle of imagination.

That's Valentines day sorted, thank you Jackie and Lythan xx

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance, I am hoping for some blog hopping time after the weekend.. happy creating. Gez ♥♥

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ #132 Winged Things

This week it's the turn of the lovely Arwen to set a brand new challenge theme over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog. Winged Things!

Here is what Arwen had to say.. Wings have something mystical for me. Angels have wings, fairies, my favorite animal: the bat :) Love and positive feelings give wings. Today I would like to see what gives you wings. I am very curious about your creations..

Fabulous challenge Arwen!

I've made a tag for the latest challenge and used the brightest colours I could find! The weather has been very miserable and it's rained every day since we moved house.. I needed some colour therapy!!

Stamps used: Are My Pants Too Tight, Bat Like Wings and for the background Journey Collage and Dandelion Duo

I inked a tag with Distress Inks and Dylusion sprays, nothing like mixing it up a bit! Added a piece of patterned serviette to the tag and then stamped the collage stamp using Adirondack ink.

The image and wings were also coloured with inks.. the word trouble is a rub-on.

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. Please be sure to pop on over to the Challenge blog to see lots more inspiration from the Design Team and also our Guest designer. Usual rules apply and also the chance to win a $30 gift certificate. Good Luck!

Stampotique Designers Challenge #131 Stars

This week over on the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog it's the turn of our gorgeous Sam Read to choose a theme for our latest challenge.. this is what Sam says..

I don't know one person who doesn't enjoy looking at the stars. Stars fill us with a sense of fascination and wonderment. Earliest societies mapped and traced stars. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second and because stars are so distant, many of them millions of light years away means we look in to the sky from the distant past. Therefore I am inviting you to use stars in your creation this week, as the main image or as an accent. I can't wait to see what you make, have fun!

Terricific theme Sam!

Today, I am sharing my altered Moleskine journal cover with you, this was so much fun to decorate.

Stamps used: Stars & Circles from the Design Cube, Tools Cube, Head, Crown, the bird from the Birds and Bugs Cube and PUSH HERE the Interactive Cube

First of all, I covered the book cover with old book pages and added some colour using Neocolor II crayons.

The stars and circles were stamped directly onto the background using Stazon ink. Texture was added using a gorgeous mask by Dina Wakley called Roman Letters available along with the texture paste from A sprinkle of imagination.

The cutie pie Head and his friend (bird) were both stamped onto cardstock and coloured then added to the front cover.

This was a great project to work on.. I hope you can join in with the latest fun challenge over at the challenge blog, the design team have lots of inspiration to share with you. Good Luck.

Stampotique Designers Challenge #130 ~ Something new

I'm late, I'm late for a VERY important date!!! Well, a few hours... we are having MAJOR teething problems with our phone lines and internet connections to the new house, the joys of moving to a brand new build.. and the cracks appearing in the plaster... lol.. apparently, it's ALL normal!

This week it's the turn of the very lovely Kaz to set a brand new challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog.. this weeks challenge is something new..

Here is what Kaz has to say... I am just a little bit nosey, so for this challenge I'd like you to use something that Santa brought you! Don't worry if you didn't get crafty stash, just use something that you recently bought for yourself. If you really want to, you could make something with the theme of something new as well. Just make sure you enjoy making it.

Well, sadly, I didn't get any new crafty stash for Christmas or anything else for that matter but that's life!! What I did get and it was something I DEFINITELY wasn't expecting after losing my mobile phone down a toilet was to receive a new one last week... oh no, another learning curve!!! I am now the proud and reluctant owner of a Windows phone.... Of course, every new phone needs a new phone case.. so as we've had no internet it's given me time to 'tart' up my new case and I LOVE IT!!

I hope you like it too..

Stamps used: Whole Heart, Vine Heart and from Be Grateful (Roc's bird)

I stamped directly onto my phone case using permanent black ink, coloured the hearts with gel pen and stamped Roc's gorgeous little bird onto tissue paper before colouring, he is adhered to the case with Modge Podge with an extra coat on the top to seal the image to my phone case.. I am THRILLED with my new case!

Of course, I didn't stop there and included an atc to the front of my case.. it fitted PERFECTLY!

The atc is lovely and sparkly as I used gel pens but as usual it's difficult to make it show up especially at this time of the year! I used the gorgeous mermaid.. called Ocean by Linda Peterson.. you can see more of Linda's fabulous designs HERE

The background was created using acrylic paints and the Gelli plate and the little stars are from the Design Cube by France Papillon.. all of which are available from the Stampotique Originals online STORE in the US and from A sprinkle of imagination and The Stamp Attic to mention just two of my favourite stores in the UK.

I hope you can join us for this weeks challenge, please remember each challenge is open until the end of the month and two lucky winners will be picked by random to each win a $30 gift certificate. Good Luck!

  Happy creating, Gez
